Exercise UFULU commences at MDFCSC

Malawi Defence Force Command and Staff College (MDFCSC) Commandant Maj Gen V P S Moyo has officially open the Peace Support Operation Exercise UFULU on Monday 24 August 2026 at MDFCSC in Salima.
Exercise UFULU is a precursor to the Combined Joint African Exercise (CJAX) Exercise UHURU scheduled to commence on 31 August 2026. In his remarks, Maj Gen Moyo highlighted the significance of Ex UFULU pointing out that it is a key milestone for Southern African Development Community (SADC) region collective peace efforts.9 Staff Colleges in the SADC region are conducting a similar exercise that is Angola, Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Ex UFULU and Ex UHURU are critical platforms for SADC Staff Colleges in testing doctrines, refining strategies and enhancing readiness to respond effectively to complex peace support operations. It employs the African Union (AU) doctrine, which emphasises the importance of integration, unification context specific approach grounded in shared values and regional realities.
The Commandant called upon Participants, Directing Staff, Mentors, and media team to approach the exercise with seriousness it deserves, to share knowledge and experiences and to learn from one another.
